The Department of Defense is seeking information from companies that can provide access to bandwidth on a commercially owned and operated UHF-capable medium Earth orbit satellite. The service would support near-term experiments involving spectrum, waveforms, user equipment, and interoperability with the existing GEO UHF constellation. Existing satellites and communications capabilities that can provide service immediately or as soon as possible are preferred; an initial launch capability by 2030 may also be useful. Amendment 1, dated July 23, 2026, corrects frequency bands and replaces the attachment; other content and due dates are unchanged.
